Then there's always brown noise...

You may need nose plugs though.

Harmful? I doubt it, its just randomness (with a flat power spectral density) across the spectrum of audio frequencies you already hear.

As long as you dont have it cranked up loud, its the best way to mask other sounds that may be distracting.... either that or wear ear plugs.

Yeah I don't see anything wrong with it either, but I was reading these studies about it on google and it made me wonder...(they were working with rats...)

I can go to sleep just fine, and yes I do exercise, it's just how sensitive I am to sound that makes me want to diffuse all outside noise.

thanks.

I can't imagine this could hurt you unless it was at sustained high volumes. I can't think of any physical mechanism that it would use to cause damage.
I have a friend who needs a fan going constantly to drown out the ringing of his tinnitus, are you having that problem?
Do you get enough physical activity to tire you out? Since I started getting more exercise I sleep much better at night. Easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Hey tribe...

I was wondering what you knew about white noise.
Do you think it can have a negative affect on us?

I listen to it while I sleep because I am so sensitive to sound...any sound...I will wake up if I hear anything and the white noise diffuses all the sounds and helps me sleep

but I'm wondering if this could be bad for me.

What do you think?
