It would help to know a price range and what you're using them for as there are a lot of options out there.
For tracking and listening back I use my Sony MDR 7506, but I would never mix on them, they way overhype the lowend. I also replaced the ear pads with Beyerdynamic pads, they're more comfortable and isolating. About $95
A lot of people also like the Beyerdynamics 770s for mixing. I have never mixed on headphones, it always seemed skewed to me, however, some people really like it. These go for over $200.
Under $100 I can't really recommend anything, they usually sound like crap and don't isolate. I also have a few pairs of MoreMe's hanging around for the artists who never seem to get how much wear they put on headphones when yanking them on and off. www.itrstudio.com/moreme.html They don't sound great, but they are cheap and have a great replacement policy.

If $100 is in your budget I would say the Sony's are great for that!
If you're live track in a noisy room and you need utility you can't beat the MoreMe's for $30.

Have to agree. I have a pair of AKG 240's that I have been using since the 80's. (Yes, the 80's) I need to replace them because they're starting to fall apart. They still sound great. Plenty of clarity and transparency. They sound fairly flat to me. That's why I like them.

I have to say that you should either look into the AKg's but if you have the $ the best all around bang for the buck is the Ultrsone 2500's they are the shitake... seriously though if your looking for music mastering and balancing then you should look in to these.. I can give you all the techno babble about why exactly they are so good if you like. All I have to say is I own a pair and have been getting great response from some great engineers in the biz..

if you are looking for cheep and good - sony always has a
MDR-100 series for about 10 bucks. usually @ drugs stores..
    and booorders.

these are "flat" even the little ones that claim "mega bass"
if they are the light little ones.

Also - I like the sennheiser line of "pro" not the consumer series.

I have the HD250' for 20 years.... and I've had the HD 280s for a couple of years -
and like them just fine.. for $150 or so.

Just know you will want to have a few.

I have used the AKG 250s 20 years ago.... they were good sounding back then

      I meant AKG 240s.

also you need to NOT lett others use your main headphones....

get another pair for others to use.

Beyerdynamics are strong and rugged - used in radion stations where many different people
grab them and miss treat them.

Just be ware that all Sony's boost the high frequencies and no offense patrick but never by a headphone that says anything about boosting the bass signal. Knowing if a headphone is truly flat is one of the hardest things to be sure of. Spend the money and get what you pay for don't assume for a second that just because people give you good reviews that you need not do your homework on how it is you should spend your money. My headphones, I love because of the way the drivers have been off-set placed and there open can design "they also sell the same model in a closed can design" which gives you a natural surround environment perfect for phasing which has always been a problem with mastering & mixing headphones.
