I wanted to double check on reference mic usage. I'm pretty sure that I've been using it correctly. Pointing the "tip" towards the source you are referencing versus aiming it straight up. I was in a bit of a small argument with a friend over the proper usage, and he kept insisting that you aim this mic straight up to calibrate a source since it was an omnidirectional polar pattern. Specifically I'm using the dbx rta-m.

Tue, January 22, 2008 - 1:11 AMEven omnidirectional mics are directional at higher frequencies. So you do indeed point the mic at source (monitor).
